The MotoGP Championship drew to a thrilling close this weekend in Valencia, with teammates hustling for the top brass. Of course, that sounds simple on paper. but it never really is ever on the race track.
Speaking of simple, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase format is supposed to be just that. You win. You pass. Simple. But it’s barely ever that cut and dry.

1. MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo wins riveting Valencia GP after flawless ride
There are few times in MotoGP history where a Championship trailer overturns a lead to take the title in the final race, and Lorenzo did just that this weekend. While his teammate, after the Malaysian tussle with Marquez, was demoted to the back of the grid, all Lorenzo needed to do was win.
Rossi climbed up to fourth by the middle of the race, but couldn’t close the 10-second lead that formed between him and Pedrosa, Marquez and Lorenzo up front.
Marquez resisted the temptation to lunge up the inside of Lorenzo, and as a result, the Spaniard won a brilliant race.
Lorenzo is now a three-time MotoGP Champion.
2. Formula 1: Renault close to resigning with Red Bull as engine supplier
Here’s some hilarious irony.
Red Bull was largely criticised for criticising Renault’s lack of engine grunt in the early part of the season, but now the team’s about to resign the French marque as chief engine supplier, according to Autosport.
We shrug our shoulders.
3. Formula E: Lucas di Grassi wins in Malaysia
In sweltering conditions, Lucas di Grassi has won one of the craziest motorsport races we’ve ever seen.
In a NASCAR-like test of attrition, six leaders of the race dropped out due to battery trouble, which is something this series hasn’t quite seen before.
Sam Bird finished second while Robin Frijns finished third on his second outing in the series.
4. NASCAR Sprint Cup: Keselowski leads over 300 laps, Johnson wins in Texas
In a race that seemed marred by tyre issues, Jimmie Johnson took the win at Texas Motor Speedway, leading just six of the 344 laps.
Brad Keselowski led the majority, and finished second, while other Chase favourites ran into trouble early.
Joey Logano suffered a catastrophic tyre failure while Kevin Harvick, also suffering from a flat tyre, climbed all the way up to third from stone last after his stop.
