This week in motorsport saw Formula 1 making news, even though there was no event at all. Kyle Busch showed just why he won last season’s Sprint Cup championship. And MotoGP riders give lessons in how not to ride a bike at all (apart from Marquez).
All this and more in this week’s motorsport roundup.

NASCAR Sprint Cup: Kyle Busch just can’t stop winning
Defending Champion Kyle Busch took his second race victory in eight days as he lead the field across the line at the Texas Motor Speedway. Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished second, with Joey Logano rounding up the podium.
And yes, he won the Xfinity race AGAIN.
F1: Chinese GP qualifying will be run on 2015’s format
Gone, gone, gone is that ridiculous knockout qualifying system the FIA and FOM ratified for use this year, and in comes 2015’s tried and trusted format.
The move was announced earlier this week, after the Formula 1 teams rallied against the 90-second knockout format.
MotoGP: Rossi, Pedrosa, Dovizioso crashes while Marquez reigns supreme in Austin
It’s Marquez’s fourth straight win at Circuit of the Americas, and that’s really without surprise, especially considering his dominance of the track over the years. But also thanks to his rivals, who were left strewn across the circuit after a number of crashes.
Rossi was first to lose his front end. Then Dani Pedrosa, who careened into the side of Andrea Dovizioso, who would’ve likely finished a strong second.
Ultimately, Marquez took the points, and broadened his Championship lead, with Lorenzo finishing second and Andrea Iannone — last week’s villain — rounding up the podium.
Blancpain GT Championship: Audi, Bentley triumph in Misano
Audi’s Laurens Vanthoor and Frederic Vervisch won this week’s Blancpain GT sprint race at Misano, while Bentley’s Andy Soucek and Maxime Soulet triumphed in the qualifying race.
The latter result was the biggest surprise of the weekend, after Soucek dropped to 20th after a terrible start on a damp track. But he and Soulet fought back to win a seriously entertaining event.
