Formula E electric racing is coming to Brooklyn, NYC

Formula E

Organisers of Formula E have revealed the location and track layout for next season’s double header event in New York City.

The New York City ePrix will take place in Brooklyn, being a 1.9km track that runs past the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal and Pier 11, the all-electric series announced on its website.

“New York City is where technology, sustainability and commerce collide. We are thrilled to be the new home of the ePrix,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a press statement.

Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag added that it was a “historic moment” for motorsport.

“When we originally started the project we could only dream of bringing Formula E to a place like New York, with arguably the most recognisable skyline of any city in the world. I’d like to thank everyone involved in helping bring Formula E to New York for many years to come.”

New York City joins Hong Kong, Marrakesh, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Monaco, Paris, Berlin, Brussels and Montreal on the 2016/2017 Formula E calendar.

Is the track a series of 90 degree corners like so many street circuits? Actually, it doesn’t look too bad, right?
