It’s a travesty that there’s no Formula One race on the African continent, despite the series previously coming to several countries in the past.
Fortunately, the all-electric Formula E series has bucked the trend, holding the first African race this past weekend.

The race, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, was dominated by Mahindra Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist in the early running. However, Sebastien Buemi was able to overtake in the closing stages of the race to take a back-to-back win in the series, having won the opener in Hong Kong.
Otherwise, the race saw quite a few overtakes, but it wasn’t quite as dramatic as the Brazilian Grand Prix. Still, we’re glad to see a major racing series come to the African continent.
