The Indy 500 is just over a week away, and the race is infamous for having some jaw-dropping finishes over the years. There was obviously Alex Rossi’s lift-and-coast to victory last year and Ryan Hunter-Reay just pipping Helio Castroneves to the line in 2014. But the 2013 Indy Lights race might be the most dramatic one yet.
The IndyCar feeder series traditionally holds the Freedom 100 race at the track, taking place on the Friday before the Indy 500. And the 2013 running saw a four-wide finish, with the winner being ahead by a mere 0.0026 seconds.

It marks one of the closest finishes in motorsport yet. And it’s made even more astounding by the fact that the person you don’t expect to win, manages to do just that.
Can we expect a similar finish on 28 May during the 2017 Indy 500? Well, with a field that includes double winner Juan Pablo Montoya, 2016 winner Alex Rossi, 2014 winner Hunter-Reay, three-time winner Helio Castroneves and double F1 champion Fernando Alonso, the competition is expected to be stiff.
