An upcoming eclipse is set to envelope a large part of the United States in darkness on 21 August. And if you’ve got a sunroof (and are in the eclipse’s path), then it seems like a pretty neat way to view the celestial event.
Now, Volvo has revealed eclipse viewers that attach to the XC60’s sunroof, so you don’t necessarily need to don a pair of eclipse glasses.

The company added that it’ll be shipping the eclipse viewers to “select Volvo retailers” in the eclipse’s path of totality. So that means Oregon, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri and South Carolina.
“The XC60 Panoramic Moonroof Eclipse Viewer is made with an ISO-certified 12312-2 material and features a magnetised frame to attach to the XC60’s roof. The size of the XC60’s panoramic moonroof allows viewing from all five seats in the vehicle,” the auto brand wrote on its website.
Those unable to view the eclipse can take advantage of Volvo’s ‘Racing the Sun’ campaign, which will see the manufacturer live-stream the eclipse in 4K and 360 degrees.
