Volvo has launched a new online store called My.Volvo which lets people buy or rent a car without leaving their homes.
The Swedish carmaker announced the new e-commerce platform on 4 May.

Similar to any other online store, My.Volvo lets customers choose their vehicle model and specification, make payment, and then have their car delivered to their doorstep.
“It makes buying a car as easy as possible without compromising on choice or safety, and it allows customers to make the purchase when it’s most convenient for them,” Managing Director of Volvo Car South Africa, Greg Maruszewski, said in a statement.
“It places our customers firmly in the driving seat when it comes to the purchasing process – and we have no doubt that they will like this.”
How to buy a Volvo online
My.Volvo is exclusively available to South Africans.
It looks similar to a traditional car brand website, with the shopping process is broken down into five steps.
Customers first browse the available models, select the one they want, fill out the required information, and then select a finance or payment option. After the payment has been completed, they can collect their car at a dealership or have it delivered to them.
Volvo launched its first online store in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the company has globally sold double the number of cars online than it did in 2019.
“My.Volvo is indicative of the fact that the way people buy cars has changed,” Maruszewski said. “We have accelerated the company’s move towards online sales.”
Currently, Volvo offers five models in South Africa. They include the XC40, XC60, XC90, S90, and V90 Cross Country.
Later this year, the company will launch its first electric car, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric P8, in the country.
