LG joins Samsung patent suit brigade
Just when you think Samsung has its hands full enough fighting off Apple in court, LG decides to join the fray.
The South Korean giant today announced that it would be suing Samsung over the seven patents relating to the advanced OLED screens used in its rival’s smartphones and tablets.
The Wall Street Journal reports that LG will seek an injunction against some of Samsung’s most popular devices including the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Galaxy Note.
“This lawsuit has been filed both to enforce LG Display’s intellectual property rights and promote fair competition,” LG said.
To be fair this is just the latest salvo in an escalating display war between the two South Korean giants.
Earlier this month, Samsung announced that it would be suing LG, accusing it of stealing its technology by “inducing [Samsung’s] researchers to transfer”. LG maintains that it is completely innocent.
