Microsoft Office for iOS and Android is a reality, comes early 2013
After many rumours over the last year, it seems that Microsoft Office for Android and iOS will be a reality. According to reports the Redmond giant will release its versions for its main rivals early in 2013. Office for iPad has already been a lingering rumour for a while.
Office will be available for iOS first in late February or early March, with an offer to purchase an Office 365 subscription within the app, and allows for basic editing. Versions for Android will be available sometime in May.
As a US spokesperson for Microsoft said: “We have said previously Office Mobile will work across Windows Phones, Android phones and iOS.”
Office Mobile will allow Android and iOS users to view and to a limited degree edit Microsoft Office documents with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel document support, and similar to OneNote and SKyDrive you will need to register a Microsoft account. Full editing functionality will be available with an Office 365 subscription.
