Facebook cuts off friend-finding access to Twitter’s Vine app
Well now. Hours after Twitter announced the launch of its six-second video sharing service Vine Facebook has blocked the ability to find friends on it.
Anyone trying to add their Facebook friends on the service is now greeted with the message: “Vine is not authorized to make this Facebook request”.
Hmm…an app cutting off the ability to find friends on a rival social network. Now where have we heard that one before?
As was the case when you lost the ability to find people you knew from Twitter on Instagram, this is an annoyance. It just makes it that little bit more difficult to find your friends on the service. As AllThingsD notes, it would have also been a useful jumping off point for a new service.
Neither Facebook nor Twitter have released statements explaining why access to the social network was shut off so quickly. Given their rivalry however, it isn’t exactly surprising.
