Samsung co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun has hailed the company’s new Galaxy S4 phone as its fastest ever selling gadget ever. The company’s new flagship smartphone is expected to hit 10-million in sales next week, less than a month after it first launched.

Speaking to The Korea Times, Shin said that the company is “confident that we will pass more than 10-million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model S3.”
He added that the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S4 could ultimately reach 100-million units sold, a feat which would represent double the global sales of its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, which has reached 50-million sales. Indeed, when it was launched last year, the S3 took just under two months to pass the 10-million sales mark.
The Galaxy S4 went on sale in South Korea on April 26, and promptly landed in the US, China, and India the next day ahead of a massive global roll-out backed up by major offline and online marketing campaigns.
The phone, which builds on the success of the S3 with a similar design and enhanced functionality, looks set to continue the streak of massive sales figures issuing forth from the South Korean manufacturer. Last year, the sales of its entire Galaxy S range sales hit 100-million, and recent statistics from research company Gartner suggest that Samsung is the top mobile phone manufacturer worldwide, accounting for 23% of all mobile phone sales and 30% of all smartphone sales in the first three months of this year.
