Type Konami Code into Vogue UK site, get raptors!
This is insanely cool. Type the Konami Code (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A) into glossy mag Vogue UK’s site and you’ll get a neat little Easter egg in the shape of a Velociraptor.
This fella isn’t really like the antagonists in Jurassic Park though. Vogue’s velociraptor seems to have a bit of a thing for fancy hats.
See what we mean?
It looks like Vogue isn’t the only Conde Nast publication with the Easter egg on its site thought. Apparently it’s also present on Wired UK, Easy Living and GQ UK. On each site, the raptor’s garb reflects the unique content. On Wired therefore, the dinosaur will be wearing 3D glasses and on GQ, it’ll don a fancy suit.
The code was first used in the 1986 release of Gradius for the Nintendo Entertainment System but was popularized among North American players in the NES version of Contra, for which it was also dubbed both the “Contra Code” and “30 Lives Code”.
Over the years however, it’s become something of a default cheat code in games, sometimes producing entertaining results.
The code has also become popular on a number of websites including Google, Facebook and ESPN.
