The Meffys, global mobile awards, celebrates 10th birthday in the Valley
MEF, the global community for mobile content and commerce, has launched its 10th annual awards. To celebrate a decade of the prestigious awards, the 2013 ceremony of the unfortunately named The Meffys will move from its London origins to San Francisco.
The awards ceremony will now form part of the MEF inaugural two-day conference, the MEF Global Forum 2013, which should raise visibility for awards entrants to leading players in the Valley.
The Meffys is judged by an independent and international panel of journalists, academics, analysts and VCs, and is considered to be the global benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation in mobile content and commerce.
Last year, more than 200 companies from over 30 countries entered The Meffys, such as banks, digital agencies, app developers, service providers, operators and handset manufacturers, reflecting how diverse the role mobile plays in consumers’ lives in this day and age.
Rimma Perelmuter, MEF CEO commented that the 10th annual Meffys is a landmark for both MEF and the mobile industry. “In this time, we’ve seen the ecosystem significantly redefine itself and mobile become the primary digital and transactional hub for a vast array of content and commerce services.”
He continued, “The Meffys will once again recognise those companies at the very top of their game… with the move to Silicon Valley, Meffys participants will also benefit from unprecedented exposure to leading investors, press and decision-makers and gain access to global mobile leaders at MEF Global Forum 2013 in San Francisco.”
The two-day MEF Global Forum 2013 will take place on 14 and 15 November, and is set to also benefit Silicon Valley mobile leaders, exposing them to an international perspective on innovation, growth and monetisation strategies in the mobile industry.
Founding supporters of the forum (#MEFGF13), include Mozilla, Binbit and the Silicon Valley Bank. Speakers include senior execs from companies such as music service Shazam, telecoms Verizon and Telefonica Ventures.
