Hyperlapse: why Instagram’s third app is totally brilliant

Just when we thought Instagram couldn’t get better, it released Bolt. Cue anti-climax. There was so much talk around the app that would compete with Snapchat – and then it disappeared.

Now Instagram’s released Hyperlapse, an app that captures high quality motion time-lapse videos. So what makes this app so brilliant? Here’s what Instagram had to say on its blog:

And it’s true. It’s the first-ever image-stabilisation technology for smartphone videos with an incredible algorithm that lets you choose a focal point, and film away. Take a look at their launch video.

So once you’ve created your Hyperlapse video, what’s next? You are able to select how fast you want your frames to move (4x, 8x, 10x, etc.) and then you have the option to share on Instagram or Facebook.
