Die Antwoord’s ‘Ugly Boy’ music video tops 1m views in first 24 hours
Known for their catchy beats, controversial parodies and pushing taboos, South African rap group Die Antwoord’s new video has topped 1 million views on YouTube since it was released one day ago.
The song, called “Ugly Boy” from the group’s latest album Donker Mag, shows Die Anwoord’s Yolandi and Ninja doing their usual “freeky” dress-ups, face paint, contact lenses and costumes, together with a bunch of famous guest stars from Hollywood.
You have to watch it yourself, really, but the video’s a rather strange take on what seems to be a blend between horror and romance.
Apart from Ninja doing the controversial blackface dress-up, “Ugly Boy” features performer Jack Black, musician Marilyn Manson, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and famous models Cara Delevingne and Dita Von Teese to name a few.
The pair of musicians will also be featuring in District 9 director Neil Blomkamp’s up coming movie, Chappie together with Hollywood actors Hugh Jackman and Dev Patel.
