The year is winding down and so is everyone, except for Google. This week alone Google has launched Game Kids and Google for kids. While everyone is concluding projects, compiling annual reports, counting losses and celebrating victories Google is going ahead and launching projects, the latest of which is aimed at bringing its work and education programmes up to speed.

Over the last few years, the company has run a reseller programme for Google Apps For Work, as well as programmes around some of its other services. The latest launch is relaunching and consolidating these programmes under the Google apps for Work and Education Partner Program moniker. This is a relaunch as Google has run a reseller programme for Google apps for Work, as well as programmes around some of its other services.
Murali Sitaram, Director of Global Partnerships & Strategic Alliances, wrote on Google blog that “From Cloud Sherpas to Sprint, Ancoris to Devoteam, CDW to Promevo, and many more, our partners are helping transform businesses around the world. With the new Google for Work and Education Partner Program, we will continue to invest in creating world-class business relationships with our customers and provide the support and investment our partners deserve”.
The new partner programme will combine Google’s existing programmes around apps, Chrome, Cloud Platform, Maps and Search. The relaunch, Google claims, is to allow its “partners to better sell, service and innovate across the Google for Work and Education suite of products and platforms.”

The new programme will focus on three tracks: sales, services and technology. The sales track, Google says, is for partners whose core competency is marketing and selling Google for Work and education products at high volume. Selling includes ongoing account management and renewals associated with a partner’s customers.
The services track is tailored for partners who provide the full range of services to customers, such as selling, consulting, training, implementing and providing technical support for Google for Work and Education products.
The last track that Google will focus on is technology. The focus here will be for partners who create products and solutions that complement, enhance or extend the reach or functionality of Google for Work and Education.
Across the tracks, they will be two partner tiers, a standard tier and premier tier for “partners that have demonstrated higher levels of excellence within their track.” All partners will get access to Google’s connect community for partners, listings in its partner directory and a resale discount for Google’s product. The premier partners will also get designated partner manager support, co-marketing opportunities and access to funding and financial incentives not available to its other partners.
