This stunning short film imagines what’ll happen once we conquer the solar system
Whatever points the naysayers may put forward, the idea of humans exploring space — and not just remote-controlled vehicles — is one which we still find incredibly compelling. Sure, the majority of us aren’t going to start a space exploration company like Elon Musk, but even the biggest space-sceptic will likely be moved by the Wanderers, a new and inspirational short film.
The film, created by Swedish digital animator and artist Erik Wernquist, lovingly imagines what might happen once we mange to physically break the bounds of the Earth and settle on other planets.
The scenes in the film aren’t just the fevered imaginings of an over-enthusiastic sci-fi lover either. Wernquist scoured through NASA photos and maps to build digital recreations of actual places in the Solar System.

The narration also has some serious scientific cred, coming as it does from a recording of legendary scientist Carl Sagan reading from his 1994 book Pale Blue Dot.
There’s no real story line, but the video is bound to have you yearning to at least take that epic trip you keep putting off.
