Netflix to be ‘exclusive US pay TV home’ for Disney, Marvel and more

Netflix has announced an exclusive partnership with Disney, Marvel, Pixar and LucasFilm in the United States.

The partnership will see Netflix host the latest movies from these big-name studios later this year.

“From September onwards, Netflix will become the exclusive US pay TV home of the latest films from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar,” the company said in a press release.

The company has also revealed its refreshed summer lineup of content – so what can US subscribers (and those using proxy services) expect?

June is highlighted by the first three Jurassic Park movies and Spotlight, July will see the Back to the Future and Lethal Weapon movies headlining the month, while August will see The Fast and the Furious, The Little Prince and The Wedding Planner.

“Many of our long time US members might recognise that summer is a time when we refresh a large part of our film catalogue. This year is no exception, but there is one difference; a batch of non-exclusive titles are leaving while what is arriving is exclusive to Netflix among streaming subscription video services,” the streaming service clarified.

Want to get in on the US Netflix action? Well, the company has been playing whack-a-mole with DNS and VPN services, having announced its intentions to crack down on these technologies earlier this year.

At the time, the company said its ultimate goal was to offer “all of our content everywhere” and for everyone to want to use Netflix “without using a proxy”.
