In a rather welcome surprise, Instagram has updated the Windows 10 Mobile version of their app.
The update brings the same UI and much-maligned logo seen on the Android and iOS versions.

“We have a new look! Our updated icon stays true to the camera and rainbow. The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app,” the Facebook-owned company noted in the app description.
The news is rather welcome and points to Windows 10 Mobile actually getting some love from Instagram. After all, the previous Instagram app for Windows Phone often languished for months on end without significant updates.
In fact, the Windows Phone 8.1 app still lacks video uploads, forcing users to download the third-party 6tag app to get the job done. Several years after its release, the WP8.1 version still has the “beta” tag as well.
Fortunately, the Windows 10 Mobile version is a port of the iOS app, which should translate into more updates then. The app already bests the WP8.1 version by having video uploads, for one.
Facebook is also working on bringing its main Facebook and Messenger apps to Windows 10 Mobile as well, with the desktop versions already available to download.
