Liverpool might not’ve had a stellar campaign in the last Premier League football season, but the club is at least spending time on new technologies to entertain its fans.
In its latest exploits, the club will broadcast its friendly match tonight against Huddersfield Town in full 360 degrees on YouTube.

Accoring to a press release, the camera “will allow users to control the view of the camera from the halfway line and look around the field of view or behind at the fans.” It’ll also be accompanied by commentary from LFCTV.

“We are excited to be able to offer our fans this experience, which is a Premier League team first,” Liverpool’s CMO Matthew Baxter notes.
“Being able to view the match in full 360° will give our fans from all around the world the closest feeling to being there in the stands cheering on the team.”
To watch the video, users will require either Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Opera browsers (see the embed below). The video will also be available on YouTube’s Android and iOS apps, and should work with virtual reality headsets like Google Cardboard too.
The match kicks off tonight (20 July 2016) at 8.45pm SAST.
