Grand Tour is most pirated show of all time – report
Amazon’s The Grand Tour, featuring the Top Gear trio, is the most pirated show of all time, surpassing Game of Thrones, according to a new report.
The first episode of the series was downloaded 7.9 million times, the second was downloaded 6.4 million times and the third episode saw 4.6 million downloads, the Daily Mail reported, citing data from analytics firm MUSO.
British viewers were the top culprits, the publication reported, accounting for 13.7% of downloads.
MUSO claims that Amazon lost potential revenue of £3.2-million on episode one. It’s unclear how the analytics firm arrived at this figure though.
The first episode of The Grand Tour was downloaded almost eight million times
“It is the most illegally downloaded programme ever. It is off the scale in terms of volume,” MUSO’s Chris Elkins told the Daily Mail.
“It has overtaken every big show, including Game Of Thrones, for the totals across different platforms.”
Amazon hasn’t revealed viewership figures for The Grand Tour, only telling the publication that it has become the “biggest show premiere ever on Amazon Prime Video”.
