Mid-2017 is gearing up to be a golden age for action movie fans. Hot on the heels of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer (and release date), Michael Bay and co has released the latest trailer for the next Transformers movie. And it’s nuts.
Dubbed Transformers: The Last Knight, the flick continues to star Mark Wahlberg as the most unlucky lucky guy on the planet. But of course, they aren’t quite on earth.
No ad to show here.
While Optimus Prime drifts through space and time, a slew of unwanted things befall the human race (as usual), and its up to Marky Mark and the military bunch to drag our species out of its own stinking mess.
Transformers: The Last Knight trailer sees robots punching robots, humans getting in the way
Of course, the trailer doesn’t quite reveal the branches of the story as yet, and if you hadn’t watched the last (quite atrocious) instalment of the franchise, you’ll likely be lost.
But still, the trailer has its moments. For a Bay flick, there’s more wincing faces and anguished screams than explosions, impressive to say the least. There’s also a rather touching scene in which Optimus rock-bottoms Bumblebee, and then stabs him.
Who knows what this might mean. Is Optimus evil? Is he under some kind of ethereal spell? Is Mark Wahlberg less annoying in this role than Shia LaBeouf?
All this, and likely some more, will be answered on 23 May 2017.
For now, have a look at the trailer below, narrated by Anthony Hopkin’s husky growl.
