There’s nothing I hate more than a clever advertising campaign that forces me to tarnish my already messy social media brand.
Local music festival Rocking the Daisies has just announced its 2017 lineup — but on Twitter, it’s forcing users to ‘tweet to reveal.’ All it reveals? A shortened link to RockingtheDaisies.com that disappears once you hit tweet.
No ad to show here.
But don’t worry: I took one for the team and tweeted against my better judgment so that no one else has to. Does this make me a martyr? Almost certainly.
I’m about to see the @RockingtheDaisy line-up, and you can too! #RTD2017https://t.co/UJoN1KWxsr

While Twitter users had to climb Mt Everest to find out who they’ll be seeing in October, though, Facebook was handed the lineup on a silver platter. Is this a way to discriminate against us MTN free Twitter users, Daisies? We see you.
For those of you not in the business of loading images, here’s the main lineup: Flume, Two Door Cinema Club, Black Coffee, The Naked and Famous, Joey Bada$$, Cassper Nyovest, Snakehips, Sam Paganini, Patrick Topping, Riky Rick, Fokofpolisiekar, Ray Phiri, Die Heuwels Fantasties, and Beatenberg.
Most Twitter users seemed excited about the music coming their way this year.

Also, to add chaos to the confusion: Daisies tweeted the lineup right after its annoying campaign.
We’re proud to present our most exciting line-up to date! See you all at #RTD2017! BUY TICKETS: https://t.co/jkGER37sJApic.twitter.com/0MdUBZkKsJ

Ah, advertising.
Update: We have been contacted by Ashleigh Hay of Ad Dynamo, who has let us know that the tweet was meant to transform into a video announcing the lineup. The call to action was then meant to change to a link to buy tickets. We have tried on multiple browsers and mobile to get it to work, but to no avail.
Let us know in the comments section below if the ‘tweet to reveal’ has worked for you.
This is developing.
