Cell C today revealed its latest stab at solving the #DataMustFall crisis in the form of seven new prepaid package offerings.
Dubbed Social Bundles, these packages don’t simply include data but “additional data for Facebook and WhatsApp, local any network voice minutes and SMS and free games,” Cell C explains in a press release.

It claims that the bundles allow users to communicate across a number of different channels, and not simply social media.
“The value created within these new bundles are unique, and we know our customers will instantly feel the benefits of all that the Social Bundles offers,” adds Jose dos Santos, Cell C’s CEO.
“The addition of any-net voice calls, SMS and free downloadable games, just adds to the richness of the Social Bundles.”
Notably, the addition of WhatsApp within the Social Bundles themselves does affect Cell C’s standalone WhatsApp package.
“With the introduction of the Social Bundles with additional WhatsApp data, the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of the current standalone WhatsApp bundle will be set at 600MB from 1 October 2017,” the company clarifies.
The cap will come into effect from 1 October.
Social Bundles will be purchasable through USSD codes, the Cell C app or online via the website from 20 September.
