Tinder Lite is coming to data-limited areas and budget smartphones, according to the dating app’s parent company.
In an earnings call last week, Match announced plans for a smaller, lightweight, less demanding app that will allow users access to Tinder but won’t starve them of data or occupy too much of their smartphone resources.

We’ve seen the lite app ecosystem take shape over the past few years, led by the likes of Google, Twitter, Facebook and Spotify among others. And although any user with an Android phone can download and use these over the weightier stock apps, Match wants to appeal to those in Southeast Asia first and foremost.
Considering that Africa has previously been a playground for lightweight apps in the past, don’t be too surprised if the continent is also on Match’s radar.
It’s not clear when Tinder Lite will be ready for consumers’ swipes.
