Netflix on Monday announced that it will be producing an animated series version of the card game Magic: The Gathering in conjunction with the Russo brothers and game publisher Wizards of the Coast.
“The Russos will oversee the creation of an all new storyline and expand on the stories of the Planeswalkers, which are Magic’s unique magic-wielding heroes and villains,” the company said in a press release.

The pair famously directed the last two Avengers movies for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The series will be animated by Bardel Entertainment and feature several voice actors from the likes of Ultimate Spider-Man and Batman: The Animated Series, to name a few.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Joe and Anthony Russo to bring Magic: The Gathering’s rich and diverse cast of characters and worlds to Netflix in a way that will delight our many fans and those new to the franchise,” said Chris Cocks, Wizards of the Coast president.
Netflix has not yet revealed when the series will be released.
