In a headline that’ll probably make you say “what’s new?” Instagram and WhatsApp are today facing service issues in various parts of the world.
According to reports on Twitter and status website DownDetector, users of WhatsApp were primarily affected across Europe, Brazil and Indonesia. Instagram’s outage is seemingly concentrated in Europe and major cities in the US and Brazil. Some are also seemingly have issues connecting to Facebook too.

Based on the time of published tweets, the issues began around 7pm SAST.
Facebook is experiencing connectivity issues (including WhatsApp and Instagram) in Brazil, and probably in some other countries too.

Strangely enough, we’re able to access all three services in South Africa at the time of writing. The reason for the outages in other areas of the globe are unknown at this point.
This isn’t the first time in 2019 that Instagram and WhatsApp have toppled over like dominoes though. Users were without the services in April and July.
