Facebook on iOS 13 has a pretty creepy camera bug right now

A report by The Next Web on Tuesday revealed that Facebook has been secretly accessing iPhone users cameras.

According to a tweet spotted by the publication, the iOS app for Facebook can activate a users camera when they are scrolling through the platform.

“I found a bug in the app that lets you see the camera open behind your feed,” explained Joshua Maddux, the user who discovered the issue.

Maddux further noted that the issue occurs on the latest version of iOS 13, but not on iOS 12.

The Next Web also found that Facebook cannot access the camera without in-app camera permission.

Facebook later confirmed that it “inadvertently introduced” the bug after fixing a different one last week.

“We’re submitting a fix for this to the App Store today,” said Guy Rosen, the company’s vice president of product management.

The news comes after Facebook recently launched its new company brand design and Facebook Pay.
