Facebook on Tuesday announced the launch of Facebook Pay, a new online payment system for “a convenient, secure and consistent payment experience” across the company’s family of apps.
This means that WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and Facebook users will soon be able to manage their transactions through a single payment system.

“Facebook Pay will make these transactions easier while continuing to ensure your payment information is secure and protected,” the company said on its blog.
Users will be able to set up their preferred online payment methods, view their transaction history and update their information through Facebook Pay.
Additionally, users will be able to manage which apps have access to their Facebook Pay information as well.
“Set up Facebook Pay app-by-app, or choose to set it up for use across apps,” Facebook explained.
According to the company, Facebook Pay will first roll out in the United States on both Messenger and Facebook this week.
The payment system comes after Facebook recently launched its new dedicated news space and updated its mobile navigation settings.
