Facebook on Tuesday revealed that about 100 developers still had access to personal information in Groups despite the company updating Groups to prevent this last year.
“Before April 2018, group admins could authorize an app for a group, which gave the app developer access to information in the group,” the company explained it is developer blog.

Though Facebook changed the Groups API so developers would not be able to access information in this way, the company discovered that “some apps retained access to group member information, like names and profile pictures in connection with group activity”.
According to the company, 100 developers had access to the information, but only 11 actually used the data.
“These were primarily social media management and video streaming apps,” Facebook further explained, claiming that the information was not abused.
The company, which recently updated Groups privacy settings, also noted that developers no longer have any access to information in Groups following the discovery.
