Glass gets travel friendly as Foursquare, Tripit, Opentable get apps
If you’re a Google Glass explorer and you think that the device hasn’t really, well, allowed you to properly explore the world then the latest set apps to arrive on Glass should make you a little happier.
Among the latest companies to bring their apps to Glass are TripIt, Foursquare and OpenTable.
In a Google+ post announcing the additions, Google says that “Glass has become a favorite travel companion because it helps you enjoy your vacation without getting lost in your technology.”
The news comes a day after Google announced that Glass would be made available to the general public and no longer curtailed to people within its Explorer programme.
As Glass becomes less and less novel, it also becomes increasingly important that Google have the right apps on the device. After all, people aren’t going to shell out US$1 500 for a device with hardly any apps, especially when it turns out that its collective components only cost US$150.
In the post, the internet giant also encourages Explorers to “send us your photos, videos and vignettes with the hashtag #travelthroughglass”.
