Burn Media is a multimedia digital publishing house which focuses on the intersection of technology and media, entrepreneurship, cars, and gadgets.
Memeburn (pronounced “meem”, not “meh-meh” or “mee mee”) is a website that focuses on everything digital in the emerging markets sphere, from current events in the world of social media, mobile and general technology, to in-depth interviews with the likes of WordPress creator and CEO Matt Mullenweg, Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington, Foursquare founder Dennis Crowley, Evernote CEO Phil Libin, the co-creator of Google Now and entrepreneur Richard Branson as well Naspers CEO Koos Bekker, Wired founder Chris Anderson and StumbleUpon CEO Mark Bartels. It is particularly interested in the BRICs*, as well as digital innovation, viral online marketing campaigns and general tech trends.
In 2011, Burn Media launched Memeburn’s gadget news and review sister-site Gearburn.com and in 2012, the newest website dedicated to highlighting innovative startups and entrepreneurs, Ventureburn.com. In 2013, car tech site Motorburn.com went live.
The sites were founded by the late South African web entrepreneur Matthew Buckland who previously headed up the Mail & Guardian Online and worked as head of the innovation division at 24.com.
Gearburn chronicles the latest gadget and gaming news from around the world through written and video reviews, with a hefty side dose of attitude.
Ventureburn is focused on telling the world’s startup news and tech entrepreneurs’ stories from the emerging market sector, covering everything from innovative new businesses and developments in ecommerce to helpful tips for starter entrepreneurs.
Motorburn explores the automotive industry with a tech-savvy perspective, because cars are also gadgets.
