And the iPad goes to …
Memeburn received an overwhelming response to its iPad competition, launched early last month. Entries were being tweeted right up to the last second. Selecting the winning Tweet was no easy task and our staff carefully considered all the entries before finally deciding on a winner.
Together with online shopping site WantItAll, Memeburn decided to give away this amazing prize to the person who could motivate on Twitter the best reason why they deserved to own a brand new iPad .
Readers had to complete this tweet: “#wantanipad from @memeburn & @wantitall_news becos…”. We received more than 310 tweets and quite a few Facebook Likes. You can see all the Tweets that were submitted here.
There were a couple of classic tweets that came close:
- @debbietagg: …becos, dead comp at home, no money, kids2feed, techgeek…
- @sindyLP: ….becos not having one makes me a sad Panda – and we’re endangered mind you!
- @maankind: becos… that is the only way I’ll EVER have something that is 9.7 inches…
- @quentinarendse: becos…it’ll impresses the heck out of the ladies
- @blikkies: becos…I almost dropped my iPhone in the toilet while reading.@ least the iPad won’t fit…
- @addamac: becos…I promise only to use my iPad to battle the forces of evil such as the PC!
- @_jason_stevens_: becos… I need a GIANT remote control for my TV. I am always losing mine!
There was this one too, which we thought funny, if not on the bizarre side: “@bokbites: becos…. Simple! So I can sit on the loo and prioritise my day while I Poo! 🙂 lol”
These were just some of the hilarious entries we received, but at the end of the day we settled on a Johannesburg-based journalist Georgina Guedes (@georginaguedes), who entered with a Twitter haiku that read:
“becos….innovative thing/ buzzing with the possible/ I touch and am touched”
… which was followed a few days later by:
“becos you can shrink Alice in Wonderland with a stroke of the screen.”
… and her third, and final, tweet:
“becos my ability to read at night without the lights on will save my marriage”.
Three great tweets from Georgina — which reveal an insomniac with a poetic soul who will use the iPad creatively and at the same time “save her marriage” — was in our view a winning formula.
Congratulations to Georgina Guedes from all of us at Memeburn and WantItAll!
