Code4CT wants girls to rock WordPress during Africa Code Week

As part of its Africa Code Week celebrations, running from 1 to 10 October, non-profit organisation Code4CT will be hosting various workshops with the predominant focus being on WordPress.

According to a press release sent to Memeburn Africa Code Week forming part of Code4CT’s 18-month “learn to code programme” for high school girls in grade 11.

The full programme trains participants in web development, design principles, as well as courses in professional development. Code4CT says it aims to inspire a generation of young girls who are well-prepared with a toolkit of technical and soft skills in order to achieve high impact in the workplace.

“The programme begins with a two week camp in July where the girls are introduced to coding and design thinking and are exposed to the many opportunities in the tech world. In October Code4CT will be focussing on WordPress. The Code4CT Class of 2015 who attended the July camp will have the opportunity to further their skills at building websites using WordPress and get a feel for working in the tech industry,” said Code4CT founder, Emma Dicks.
