Take us to Jozi: this video illustrates the beautiful side of Instagram
Think Instagram is all about celebs, selfies and overly filtered food shots? Well, you’re kinda right. But that’s not all there is to the photo sharing app — it’s also a platform for carefully crafted snapshots, artistic expression and a way for like-minded photographers to meet one another.
The creative and community aspects of Instagram are communicated beautifully in a recent video from Instagrammers Gareth Pon and Miklas Manneke, which gives viewers a glimpse into some of the Instagram fans and interesting places in Johannesburg, South Africa. Produced for mobile photography and artistry site We are Juxt‘s ‘Take us to’ travel series, the video was showcased on Instagram’s blog and features interviews with prominent members of the IgersJozi community.
Pon, who founded IgersSouthAfrica (which helps surface local photographers and holds regular meet ups around the country), explains in the video that it’s all about “capturing something that’s interesting”, sharing your world and bringing people together. Who thought a little square photo app could have such an impact?
