The HTC Flyer, the company’s first entrant into the Android tablet market, finally gets Honeycomb. Launched back in February, it’s watched most of its major competitors steam ahead with Honeycomb, which is the tablet-centric version of the platform. It’s a staggered rollout, starting in France yesterday and spreading to other markets. Currently it’s for the 3G version, with the WiFi only version ‘coming soon’.

Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available in Europe, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning today! Honeycomb brings a ton of improvements to Android on tablets, including the latest version of HTC Sense for Tablet with enhanced Internet browsing, Mail, Calendar and more all optimized for the 7″ screen. Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.
The Flyer has not been a smash hit, being a bit expensive on introduction, and then seemingly languishing in product updates. It currently sells for $300 for the 16GB WiFi version in the US – and EUR400 in Europe (now about EUR20-40 less than its latest-release competitors).
