Fathers day is here and without messing about, here’s the Gear’s list of our top eleven favourite gadgets for daddy-o.
1. Olloclip 3-in-1 iPhone camera lens
The iPhone 4S’ camera is pretty groovy, but this 3-in-1 camera lens makes it all the more special. For under US$20 you get a fish-eye, wide-angle and macro lens.
We’re not big on “limited edition” crap, but this watch makes the grade. It’s 100% wood and a real stunner. Other than that, it tells the time, weirdly enough.
Copying music off an iDevice is mostly a damnable chore, but the miShare iPod music sharer genuinely alleviates this issue. Plug an iPod into each side, hit the button on the miShare and boom, done. All that magic for US$100.
This little gem is priced at US$30 and looks spot on like a Canon SLR lens, funnily enough. This is geek chic at its finest
It ain’t cheap, but it is pretty handy. For US$300 (plus a US$35 monthly fee), grab this back seat driver which monitors where and when the car is in motion. And hey, it’s a life-saver, literally. Imagine monitoring your kid’s driving performance without the constant worry in the back of your mind.
Grab peace of mind for US$120. Plug this baby into your other baby and discover what niggling issues are causing your car to sputter. Once CarMD has done its magic, plug it into a PC and it spits out a list of possible issues. Ultra handy.
For the pretty damn cheap price of US$67, this cute piece of tech can make a dad out there very happy indeed. Plug in an iDevice and spin a record up. Hit record and watch in amazement as the LP makes its way into the land of MP3.
It’s only US$20 for one of the oddest gifts of all time. Slap this bottle stopper on top of a drink, wind the numbers and lock it down. A word of warning: don’t do this at a dinner party unless you want broken glass everywhere.
9. Opena bottle opener iPhone case
This type of gadget is always a favoured item. It’s a convergence device to boot. No more plain iPhone cases. No sir! A bottle opener slides out the back of your case and cracks open beers in seconds flat. Nifty and like we said, convergence baby. Oh and it costs US$40.
10. EcoPod
Want some pretty and goddamn touch iPhone body armour? Then snag the EcoPod, a waterproof, shockproof iPhone case. For US$50, users get instant piece of mind.
11. Video Camera Pen
Let’s file this under “C” for “creepy”. For those who are dying to spy on others, this pen will become their new best friend. It’s US$130 and stores almost three hours worth of VGA quality video with its 4GB memory.
