‘Jony’ iPhone concept shots are rich with Sony magic
Battle lines are drawn in the sand, harsh words are exchanged and pacts are broken. There’s no love lost between mobile phone makers and the upcoming trial between Apple and Samsung is proof of this deep hatred. If all’s fair in love and war, why blatantly create a phone in the image of Sony, Apple?
Here’s the Jony, an iPhone concept created in 2006, a year before the iPhone launched, and absolutely stuffed with Sony panache. The name Jony possibly comes from Jonathan Ive, Apple’s lead designer behind the iPhone and iPod.
Samsung filed documents for the upcoming court proceedings that outlined a wicked tale of an Apple designer tasked to design a phone which neatly rips off Sony’s designs. It’s an older, fatter looking iPhone 4S with a massive chrome button, presumably for the camera. Best of all is the word “Jony” plastered onto the bottom of the phone.
There have been a slew of documents released for the court proceedings, but the Jony concept shots are the pick of the litter. Read the full document if legalese is your thing.
