Google Schemer – our new favourite app
Finding things to do in and around your city can be tricky, it can be downright frustrating at times. However, as with most first world problems, there is an app for it. With a host of things to see and do in and around Cape Town, it can even be a touch overwhelming to try and find ways of entertaining one’s self, and Google, being ever-helpful now has an app for that, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to Schemer. Your one-stop, entertainment/things to do/where to go/how to kill time at home shop.
I spend a lot of time customising and tweaking my Galaxy Nexus to try squeeze as much as possible from it, but this often results in me missing the part of owning a smartphone which its mainstream users enjoy, namely apps. Google’s Play Store is jam-packed with apps that can do anything you can imagine, literally anything, and I must admit, I’m nuts about Schemer.
It is an app that helps you, yes you guessed it, plan little schemes and things to do. Now, the really nice thing about this is that all of the activities, or schemes, are user generated and if I just look around my neighbourhood in Cape Town I’ve already spotted a number of things that have me curious. I also realise that I may be very late on this, if I am, I am sorry, if not, we’re winning.
Recommend things for visitors or locals to do in your area, or recommend a movie to watch to your “accomplices” as followers/friends/fellow boredom snipers are referred to. This is all about interaction, so encourage your mates to join, damn, join me for that matter, it has the potential to be a really fun way of sharing local knowledge, fun things to do indoors and much, much more. You could use it as a high-tech bucket list, or just a checklist of things you’d like to see and do, it really is pretty amazing. It’s available for Android and iOS, so hit the links and get scheming.
