iPad Mini launch event happens 17 October
Or it will, according to an Apple investor who is “close to the source”. Firstly, the actual invites for the iPad Mini launch will sneak out 10 October. On the invite, it’s said that the event will take place 17 October. The iPad Mini will then start shipping 2 November, which is a Friday. Did someone say Good Friday? Yes, we did. It’s going to be a great Friday when we get this thing in our sticky hands.
And you know what, it’s most likely true. When’s the last time you saw an Apple rumour that didn’t pan out? Close to 99% of all iPhone 5 rumours turned out to be true, so there’s no bated breath with the iPad Mini launch.
No expectations
There’s very little we know about the iPad Mini. Outside of it possibly having a 7.85-inch display, the ‘blogosphere’ and their many ‘credible sources’ say that we could be looking at a US$250 to US$300 price tag on this soon to be coveted gem. Giving us the same iPad we all know and love. So let’s all sit back, relax and wait for the ‘iPad mini/iPad nano/iPad whatever is smaller than a nano’ release.
What can be said is that a slightly smaller iPad would be a more than welcome addition to the family, since that is what has been lost a little with the current iPad. Even though it is a compact item, trying to hold it with one hand and fiddling it with the other you are still confronted with a gadget that still needs a slight bit of additional “help” to be used properly, or stay up straight, or not drop out of your hands. This could just be the area the iPad mini could fill, by not making you look like a tourist walking about in the street with his giant iPad camera.
