Microsoft reveals the design process behind the Surface’s Touch Cover

The Next Web posted the behind-the-scenes video by Microsoft which shows you the design process involved in its new Touch Cover keyboard.

The Touch Cover, which is one of two keyboards scheduled to release alongside the Surface, is not simply a peripheral, according to Microsoft. The Touch Cover is designed to enhance a users Windows 8 experience.

Features that immediately stand out with the Touch Cover are its wafer-thin dimensions and non-moving keys. As the video shows, the Touch pad is no bigger than a cardboard folder and weighs only slightly more than one. Microsoft intends the Touch Cover to be a natural extension of the Surface, it’s not meant to be a cumbersome add-on, but a device that works seamlessly.

As far as non-moving keys are concerned, the feeling, or lack thereof, when tapping away might take a little getting use to. Microsoft, however states that this does not inhibit the writing process and high typing rates are easily achieved.
