First Motorola X photo blinks into existence
Motorola is banking on an August 1st release date for it’s latest flagship device, the Motorola X. Phonearena has managed to snap not only a sneaky shot of the upcoming Motorola X, but snagged some specs as well. Check this sucker out in an enormous and detailed screenshot that reveals a very fetching Android phone.
Large and in charge
Phonearena reports that the screen will be 4.7-inch 720p display, it’ll have a 1.7Ghz CPU (we don’t know if it’s dual or quad-core) processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and will run Android 4.2.2.
US mobile operator Spprint will be the first to distribute the Motorola X (Motorola XT1056) on it’s 4G LTE network. What is so special about the Moto X is that it’s not going to focus on hardware, but on “contextually aware features” according to Slashgear. It’s also going to be the first smartphone built in the US.
Dennis Woodside, Motorola CEO, explained earlier this year exactly what makes the X so special. “Motorola has always been good at managing ultra-low power sensors, such as the gyroscope and the accelerometer, and keeping those on all the time so the device knows different use states. The [Moto X] knows when it is in my pocket, it knows when I take it out of my pocket. I might want to do something, I might want to take a picture, so it fires up the camera.”
According to Woodside, one of the cooler features of the device is that it will be able to tell how fast the user’s car is going so that the they can “interact with it safely”.
The Moto X’s official press release explains that the Motorola X will be assembled in Fort Worth, Texas.
