Bad and good news approaches Google Glass wearers. Glass owners who are seemingly puzzled about the lack of a February XE software update can rest easy, because the world’s most coveted wearable gains an upgrade from Ice Cream Sandwich to KitKat, says Glass Almanac.

In a private forum posting, which we can’t access due to the sad fact that we’re not Glass Explorers, Glass Guide Teresa Zazenski says,
The pace isn’t changing and we’re still committed to regular updates for Glass – even if they’re not monthly anymore, because bigger updates just take more time. In fact, we’re working to move Glass from Ice Cream Sandwich to Kit Kat to make the Glass experience smoother and just plain better. This change will make it easier for us to bring you more useful updates and it’s something we’re really excited about. Developers, we know you’re gonna be excited, too. But it’s also something that we don’t want to send to you all until it’s just right.
Zazenski also mentions later on in the post that “bigger updates take more time and may no longer come monthly anymore.”
Millions of KitKat users can attest to the extra levels of smoothness offered by the newish Android OS update. But as IBN Live says, Google Glass has a long way to go still. Perhaps the OS update will eliminate the features we don’t want, and improve on the extras we need? It’s no train smash that Google can’t promise definite monthly updates, as the OS makers can rather work on getting Glass as solid as possible for a potential launch later this year.
