Gadget geeks will love simplehuman’s smart approach to home accessories

Known for its understanding of tight nooks and crannies, simplehuman knows that good design goes beyond space saving and can make everyday living – especially in small spaces – a bit more enjoyable. Often featured on TV shows such as Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Glee, Private Practice and The Big Bang Theory, looks continue to be a big part of the brand’s appeal.
Whether it’s the whimsy of its shower caddy range (I particularly love the flexibility of the Tension Shower Caddy – £99) or the simplicity of a touch-bar bin that means you don’t have to touch the bin every time you want to put something in it – it’s clear a lot of thought has been put into how these products feel to use before, during and after operation. Good design saves time, money and lives and is clearly a focus for the company as it moves into its 15th year next year.

Simplehuman continues to demonstrate that it understands the person behind the purchase too with their new sensor mirror which lights up as the user approaches. The mirror (£149) simulates natural light levels so makeup can be applied correctly for outside and not inside – a common mistake I’m told (!). The mirror has five-times magnification, is distortion-free, cordless and recharges using USB or a plug adaptor. Well thought-out doesn’t begin to cover it.
