Microsoft Lumia 430 dual SIM brings Skype, Minecraft to the masses

Microsoft is on the budget phone war path it seems, after launching a slew of low-cost smartphones in the recent weeks. Without a hint of a flagship in sight, another budget Lumia has emerged, this time dubbed the Microsoft Lumia 430 dual SIM.

As the latter half of the moniker would suggest, the handset boasts slots for two SIMs should the user desire. What’s more, is that the Microsoft Lumia 430 is just US$70. No South African pricing information has been made available as yet, unfortunately.

To gloss over the specs, the Microsoft Lumia 430 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC with 1GB of RAM, a 800×480 4.0-inch screen, a rather surprising 8GB of internal storage with 30GB of OneDrive room in the cloud and a 2MP fixed-focus rear camera with a VGA at the front.

So its not much of a specs monster, but what it does aim to do is put Skype, and eventually Windows 10, into the hands of the masses. Microsoft, of course, also made mention of the phone’s Minecraft playing abilities.

The phone is by far the cheapest Lumia available, and one of the most affordable phones running the company’s Windows Phone 8.1 Denim operating system.

It will be available in orange and black and in these regions beginning in April: APAC, IMEA, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus.

There is no word on its South African availability, but expect the device to join its older brothers on our shores: the Microsoft Lumia 435 and the Microsoft Lumia 535.
