‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ remastered video surfaces, isn’t all that impressive

Uncharted is undoubtedly one of PlayStation’s signature series.

The fictional descendant of Sir Francis has been one of the primary reasons for many to purchase Sony over Microsoft, and now a new video of the remastered game has appeared online.

Naughty Dog won’t play a part in the remasters, and will instead be polished by veteran indie developer Bluepoint Studios, located in Austin, Texas.

The new video, outed first by Spanish site Meristation, shows Nathan Drake’s new character model in the helicopter scramble scene, but strangely enough Drake still moves like a previous-generation character.

That’s not to say the game doesn’t look as fun as it used to.

PlayStation Blog has also released a gaggle of five screenshots, showing the game in still life. It definitely looks a lot better than the video. Judging by a Sony employee’s first play of the title, it seems that the game hasn’t lost any of its charm:

Based on what I played, PS4’s copious processing power is helping Uncharted 2 age gracefully. We should all be so lucky as Nate. The new 1080p resolution and generous framerate give everything a clean, crisp, fluid look and feel that flatters the original PS3 version without betraying Naughty Dog’s vision. One might say that this is Uncharted 2 the way it was meant to be played. And yep, that building still falls down real good.

We’re not too sure what this “generous framerate” is, but we imagine it’s a whole lot more than 30FPS — what Uncharted 2 was driven at on the PlayStation 3.

According to the same post, gamers can also look forward to rebuffed “character models, environment textures, lighting, and special effects,” which will likely bring the game up to speed with the newer releases.

But the biggest news? PlayStation 4 gamers will have access to a playable demo that will launch on the PlayStation Store “later this summer.”
