AG Mobile Style becomes Cell-C’s first WiFi calling-enabled smartphone
AG Mobile, a South African mobile phone company, has announced that its AG Mobile Style smartphone will be the first device on Cell C‘s network to offer WiFi calling and the “only that is commercially available in South Africa.”
Thanks to a partnership with MediaTek and software supplier Lydrasoft, the device will be able to use WiFi calling to send and receive SMSes, receive and make calls whenever a WiFi connection is present and the device is able to connect.
AG Mobile’s CEO Anthony Goodman notes that the move means offering a new avenue for consumers to remain connected:
“Our decision to partner with reputable companies such as MediaTek and Lydrasoft not only allows us to tap into their international knowledge and experience but enables us to effectively incorporate cutting edge technology which further enhances our user experience.”
As for the AG Mobile Style itself, it’s powered by a MediaTek MT6582 quad-core SoC, with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and an 8MP rear camera.
It’s fronted by a 5.0-inch 854×480 display and a 2MP front camera, with a 1900mAh battery and dual SIM support.
The AG Mobile Style is exclusive to Cell C and retails for R1699.
