Speed runs aren’t exactly in the best interests of the game designers, but players absolutely revel in them, especially of classic titles like Super Mario Bros.
Hell, I remember having quite a ball guiding Mario through the fires of the eight worlds only to be murdered by Bowser at the end. But this particular player, Darbian, has broken the speed run world record for Super Mario Bros., clocking a time of 4:57:627.

That’s four minutes, fifty-seven seconds, sixth tenths and change. It’s an amazing feat especially considering that he was using the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and not an emulator.
While the time is indeed quick as all hell, there is room for improvement. Darbian can be seen missing a few critical jumps and landings, scrolling a little bit too far in some instances and well, just being a complete badass in others.
But don’t take it from me.
