Samsung Gear Fit 2 ‘confirmed’ with Tizen, to launch June
Details of the upcoming Samsung Gear Fit 2 have been leaked, and it largely confirms talk that the band will be quicker and more feature packed than its predecessor (above).
According to a new “confirmed” SamMobile report, the Gear 2 will boast a 1.55-inch 216×432 screen — Samsung’s retaining the rectangular screen profile — that’ll use sAMOLED technology.
The band will also feature a Samsung-made 1.0GHz dual-core CPU, along with 512MB of RAM and 2GB of internal storage. We’re not sure if that allows for music storage, or strictly additional Tizen apps.
Speaking of Tizen, the Gear 2 will further mirror Samsung’s future by running Tizen 2.3, feature a rather tiny 200mAh battery and GPS/GLONASS for avid runners and travellers. Also for the runners, there’s a heart rate sensor, barometer, accelerometer and now standard gyroscope.
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 is also waterproof, so Samsung didn’t forget about you swimmers either.
There’s talk of a launch this month, but we can’t report a price or availability date for South Africa just yet.
