Add the Meizu MX6 to your list of intriguing Chinese phones

It’s understandable that Xiaomi and Huawei get most of the attention when talking about Chinese smartphones. But there are quite a few other notable manufacturers from the country. Meizu is one of these firms, producing some rather slick handsets — although the Meizu M2 Note is the only one available in South Africa.

Now, the company has revealed its latest flagship, dubbed the Meizu MX6.

The new handset is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor (two A72 cores and eight A53 cores) and 4GB of RAM. Otherwise, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 32GB of expandable storage, a front-mounted fingerprint scanner and 3060mAh rounds out the device.

In the camera department, the MX6 has a 12MP f/2.0 main shooter (Sony IMX386) with 1.25-micron pixels and a 5MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.

As for a price tag, the Meizu MX6 has a suggested price of US$300. In other words, it seems like plenty of bang for your buck.

Not impressed with the specs? Then the slightly pricier Meizu MX6 Pro might be up your alley, offering a slightly upgraded X25 deca-core processor, 3D Touch, a smaller 2560mAh battery and a 21MP f/2.0 main camera for about US$380.
